A view on the rural environment throughout the Spanish cinema of the 20th Century first decade. A new set of values during an era of change

Abstract

The current article is aimed at analyzing the interest and acknowledgement awaken to the Spanish rural environment of the 21st century first decade, it being drawn by the Spanish Cinema. It was that cinema that reinterpreted and rekindled, not only the frustration and lack of appreciation of our rural environment -showing it tainted with the ruthless of truths- but also dealing with the sharpest of topics. The Spanish rural world has been gaining a new set of values from our society, keeping pace with the awareness of it being neglected. Our cinema has both captured those changes wisely and brought them closer to the spectator. The urban area, more and more distant from the customary rules will be still interested in the rural but, now from a different approach to that held in the 20th century.
